John Grøtting, Internet Initiatives

A co-founder of the European design consultancy Grøtting Design, John is recognized for his pioneering efforts in interactive design. With more than 15 years of agency and design experience, his diverse roles have included providing strategic direction, practice and account leadership to clients in a wide range of industries. With an integrated vision and a strong understanding of branding and identity across multiple media, John specializes in brand-directed design strategy and user experiences, encompassing all touch points that a customer has with a company, its products and services.

John has held positions as Vice President, Executive Creative Director at Sapient in New York City, where he also served on Sapient's Research and Development Team, and later at divine (formerly marchFIRST) in Los Angeles. Prior to joining Sapient, John co-founded cow, a Santa Monica-based interactive communications firm which attracted such clients as Mercedes-Benz, Motorola, Wells Fargo and Nike. John has led design efforts for other major brands including IBM, Kodak, Apple, Motorola, Disney, Coca-Cola, Lexus, Fidelity, Morningstar, the Nagano Olympics and United Airlines.

John’s international experience goes beyond providing creative direction for multinational companies – he has worked for DDB Needham in Finland, as well as for divine in Germany. He has also served as a consultant for medical systems and consumer software companies and taught interactive media at the renowned Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
